Los Angeles: Entourage Optional

June 25, 2016

losangelesIncrease your odds of a celebrity run-in by jetting to L.A. for a weekend of stargazing and a taste of Hollywood glamour.

Get into the “Old Hollywood” groove with a pina colada at Trader Vic’s (yes, just like in the Zevon song). For sushi and the celeb scene, make a patio reservation at Koi. (Tip: make friends with the hostess or have a West Coast contact call it in ahead of time.) For lunch, go organic at Real Food Daily or dine with local hipsters at Casavega for authentic Mexican.

Shop at the Grove or look for stars on Rodeo Drive.

Feeling energetic? Hike up the Hollywood Hills and soak in the sunny views at Runyon Canyon (popular with fit-conscious celebs). For a bit of culture, the Getty Museum is breathtaking. Then get revved up at the Petersen Auto Museum.

To sleep like a star without blowing your budget, check into the Standard on Sunset. Or catch a glimpse of Marilyn Monroe’s ghost (and some very-alive A-listers) at the gothic Roosevelt on Hollywood Boulevard. Otherwise, chill out in a stunning Chateau Marmont bungalow. (If you go there just to grab a cocktail be prepared for steep prices and a small bar, but chic and unassuming guests are almost sure to score a sighting.)
