Napa Valley Vacation

June 1, 2016

napaCatching the sunrise from a hot air balloon floating above the Napa Valley vineyards is one spectacular way to start the day, but there are plenty of other thrills in this picturesque California wine region.

For a taste of Napa’s food and culture scene, a good first stop is the Copia center which hosts wine events all year.

For under-the-radar wine tastings at splendidly non-commercial wineries, visit Darioush and the quaint Whitehall Lane. Other unassuming gems include Diamond Oaks for its gorgeous views and Peju for its breathtaking gardens.

In Napa stellar restaurants are everywhere, but off-the-beaten track delights to try are Cindy’s Backstreet in St. Helena and Wappo Bistro in Calistoga. Or grab a picnic lunch at Oakville Grocery. (Hint: Most wineries have a spot for dining al fresco.)

Hotels are also plentiful in Napa. For pampering, check in to Yountville’s Vintage Inn or go old-school Western style at the Calistoga Inn (both feature lovely spas). Counting your pennies? Try Napa Valley Redwood Inn.

Finally for easy, stress-free group travel, consider a limo or explore by a bike with a guided tour
